Wisconsin DAV meets regularly with the Governor’s Office, Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA), and key state legislators to ensure the men and women who served are treated with respect and dignity. At these meetings DAV shares its insight on issues that will affect the more than 58,000 wounded, injured and ill veterans who reside in Wisconsin.
We testify at Assembly and Senate Committee hearing when the interests of these veterans are affected. Wisconsin DAV was instrumental in the passage of the Disabled Veterans-Owned Business program, the Veterans and Surviving Spouses Property Tax Credit, Tax Credit for Employers who hire disabled veterans, and many other initiatives.

COVP advises the Board of Veterans Affairs and Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA). DAV’s representative is appointed annually by the DAV State Commander.
State of Wisconsin Budget
The biennial budget (every two years) for the State provides continued authorization and funding for Wisconsin veterans’ programs and services. These programs and services supplement and complement those provided by the federal government. They are administered by many state agencies including WDVA and Department of Workforce Development (DWD).
Wisconsin DAV shares its views on the budget with the Governor’s Office and key legislators to ensure sufficient funding for these important programs and services.
